The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Disney CEO Bob Iger has revealed hackers are holding a Disney movie "hostage" for a huge ransom in Bitcoin or else they will release it piece at a time. Iger is working with federal investigators & has stated that Disney won't pay. Later on in the day Deadline revealed that they had learned it was May 26th's upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales that fell victim to this piracy. It won't take Alanis Morrissette to find the irony in that. All joking aside though, this sucks. A lot of people work really hard to get these major motion pictures of the ground, & they all fall victim to a stunt like this. I hope this gets figured out before it becomes a real problem throughout the industry. If you see this film pirated, no matter how much you have to fight the urge, don't watch it. Ebay Teaming Up with "Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" With Some Unique Booty
Ebay has got some pretty cool things in store for Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. First & foremost you have until May 12, 2017 17:00 PDT, to bid on a rather exciting event, sure to be pricey, but 100% of proceeds go to benefit the American Red Cross. Ebay describes it as, "A chance to attend the Hollywood Premiere of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and official pre-party on May 18, 2017. You may have the opportunity to meet filmmakers and celebrities, and attend the pre-party which is exclusively for those attending the premiere. The highest bidder will also receive a signed Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales movie poster. Pirates Arr Not So Good At Keeping Secrets / Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales International Trailer
I'm now starting to feel over trailered as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales releases it international trailer. I'm just staring to feel I know things I didn't want to know. First, we get Orlando Bloom's Will Turner. Followed by the revelation that Brenton Thwaites is playing his son, Henry Turner. Now, we have this trailer confirming Keira Knightley's return as Elizabeth Swan. For all I know this could be the first 5 minutes of the film, but still, wouldn't it have been awesome to be in the theater & then BOOM! Elizabeth Swan, you're welcome. Surprise cameos are what's up! I just hope we didn't skip a really cool reveal for one that comes off lackluster. It seems like a waste to not confirm these things for so long, & give it up right before the release. I still can't wait to see Pirates though don't get me wrong. They're 3 for 4 in my book, & the 1 wasn't horrible, it just wasn't as great as yhe others. Kinda meh. Whatcha think, too much? Dead Men Tell No Tales Gets 5 Character Posters
Disney released character posters for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell no Tales. As posters go there your standard fare. You got your character, little rain in the background, blurry images, couple pieces of a boat.... Overall they're really what you would expect from Pirates of the Caribbean posters. Obviously we'll start with Captain Jack. Johnny Depp looks a little more intense and somewhat serious this time around if your just judging by this poster. I don't know why the insistence on messing with Geoffrey Rush's face in these movies, but it looks like time has done the monkey better than it is done Barbosa. Javier Bardem looks epically scary. Proving if they can get the CGI right this is going to be the character we were missing from the last outing. Newcomer Kaya Scodelario gets a poster that looks like she might not belong on the ship at all. That is probably a nod to her character though, not belonging in the mix of all this. The real poster that stands out to me is this last one. Brenton Thwaites poster makes him look every bit capable of filling the shoes of father Will Turner. Well that's my thoughts on these posters. Disney Delivers Significant Pirates of the Caribbean 5 Spoiler
As you can tell from the title there is a significant spoiler ahead. The strange part is this spoiler came from Disney itself. They released a featurette for May 26th's "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" & in it they listed Brenton Thwaites' character name as not only Henry, but Henry Turner. Yes, as in Davey Jones's replacement, Will Turner's son. I'm confused as to why they would let this out. There's a chance this could have no significance at all. As for all I know this could be revealed in the first 10 minutes. Maybe it's because I'm stuck on how strange it would have been in "Empire Strikes Back" if there were a behind the scenes where Darth Vader sits in a chair marked "Luke's Daddy" a month before it's release. Probably would've stolen most of the emotional response. In their defense though, we were all about 99% sure that was the junior Will Turner from the time he popped up in the first teaser trailer. I just can't help to think the big reveals of the cinema are gone in this age of almost too much information, & that's a sad thought. That means less "Keyser Soze'" moments for everyone. If you don't get that reference do yourself a favor & watch "The Usual Suspects". Great movie. Anyway, what do you think of Disney spoiling what could or could not be a major plot point? Orlando Bloom's Will Turner Not Doing His Job
Disney released another small look at Pirates of the Caribbean 5. This one gives you your first real look at Orlando Bloom as he appears in the film. It looks as if Will Turner has been neglecting his job of ferrying across the dead, as he's starting grow one with the sea, like his predecessor Davey Jones. The CGI is still putting me off a little bit as it looks like CGI, but that could be my television as I've noticed things look a little more real on the theater screen. Until they're redone for home then it blends in just fine. I'm finding myself getting more & more excited for Pirates 5 the more I see though. New Pirates of the Caribbean 5 Trailer
Had a short trailer for Disney's newest Pirates of the Caribbean. The ongoing tales of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. This one's a lot shorter than the last, & seems to pretty much cover the same ground as what we've already seen. Some new funnies of Captain Jack being as bad a great captain as one can be. It also seemed to give Kaya Scodelario's Carina more depth, going out of their way not to depict her as a typical damsel in distress. So, uh, check it out.
