The Future Of X-Men And R Rated Superheroes From Fox

So, there have been a lot of things on everyone's mind since the purchase of Fox by Disney when it comes to the Marvel universe. First & foremost, I thought this would be a given. According to Bob Iger Fox's ultra popular R rated superhero films will keep going forward. Namely Deadpool . However, I'm sure they will go on under a separate banner than the Disney owned Marvel. Some think the name Fox will stay, I'm leaning more towards a rebirth of the Marvel Knights division, but we'll have to see. The big news is Deadpool's R rating is safe. The second big Fox/Marvel news answers an even bigger question for me. In an interview with Collider, Lauren Shuler Donner addressed the state of the X-Men since the purchase. Obviously we're still getting the possible train wreck that will be Dark Phoenix & New Mutants is done however which way we receive it. After that everything is up in the air though as she states all further X-Men projects are on hold. She's hoping we hear something post Avengers: Endgame , & even more so she Hope's we're going in a different direction than we already went. No one will know until the inevitable big announcement, but I'm thinking this is a good thing. At least we know they're prepared to take this seriously, & give it some real thought. I want a series of X-Men in the MCU, but more so than that, I want it to be consecutively good. As of now we have a hodge podge of great, mediocre, & bad X-Men films. None of which having any real form of continuity. As the X-Men have always been my favorite Marvel property, I would love to see then get the level of MCU consistency we've grown to expect. What do y'all think though? Are you more excited for the continuation of Deadpool & possibly other R rated heroes? Or the fact that it seems a lot of thought is going into reimagining some quality X-Family titles? Put it in the comments, like, & share.

Marvel Studios Talks Eternals, Black Panther 2, & The Fox Deal

With Avengers: Infinity War about to kick off the road to the end of "Phase 3", Marvel Studios has been pretty tight lipped on anything that's coming next for "Phase 4". Feige had mentioned the next phase will begin with the Spiderman  sequel & Guardians of the Galaxy 3 , but that's about all. However, last night Collider dropped all kinds of Marvel Studios news, starting with Marvels absence from Hall H this year at Comic Con in San Diego. It looks like this is mainly because they don't have anything new to announce yet. Still not wanting to release the name of Avengers 4, it's looking to me like they don't want to fully commit yet. Probably because there's a lot on the table. Some of which probably being the looming Fox deal. Even though Feige told the Playlist it would take years, & definitely not affect the five already announced films. Which, I'll give him those five. They'll play us out through next year. That's the year this deal is supposed to go through though. At the halfway point of that year those Fox owned characters will most likely be back with Marvel. I'm thinking years is right, but only about two. Until that happens though, Feige did state that Eternals  as well as Nova  are a couple of characters in immediate consideration for Phase 4 in an interview with Comicbook.com. This is an interesting choice for me. Nova  is a given due to his ties to Guardians  & the Nova Corps.. Eternals is the one that surprises me. That's a tricky one for anyone who knows the lore of Celestial experiments on Earth. That's gonna be a hard theater sell, but so was Guardians of the Galaxy, & it's still one of my favorites. I don't know to much about the Eternals except the basics. I'm more familiar with Neil Gaiman's "reboot" than I am with the original Kirby material. It's a lot to take in, I remember that. The last piece of news comes in the form of director Ryan Coogler & Black Panther 2 . In an interview with Collider, Kevin Feige stated that they want Ryan to come back, & they're working on it right now. He's say it will depend on when Ryan wants to, but he's pretty sure he has an idea of when. He reiterates that there will be no official line up announcements until after Avengers 4 . So the awesome direction of Black Panther  will continue in it's sequel. More so however, it looks like even the two films they had mentioned to kick off phase 4 could also be in the air now. After those statements phase 4 is all the sudden total mystery. I can't wait to see where all this goes. I actually like the new secrecy, as opposed to here's everything we're doing for the next two or three years. I also can't help but keep thinking how much easier this will be to throw those Fox properties last minute into, than an already laid out plan. So there you go, a little news, & a lot of speculation. What do y'all think on all these developments? What are y'all anticipating for Phase 4? Put it in the comments, like, & share.

"X-Men: Dark Phoenix" The End For Marvel At Fox?

It sounds like Fox & Disney are starting to plan for the inevitable when it comes to the Marvel universe. In a report via Collider by Bryan Andrew at comicgenre.com, apparently Xmen: Dark Phoenix will be the last Marvel entry for Fox. He had attended a speaking engagement with some high-level Fox production crew members discussing the future of Fox's Marvel characters. In the info gathered he stated, "X-Men: Dark Phoenix will be the last proper Fox Marvel movie, presumably also the last in that continuity. The crew behind the camera has been thanked for their work but their services will not be needed any longer, as everything is moving to Disney. Apparently, the X-Men being integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a done deal, and merely awaiting the approval of the merger. Kevin Feige is “hoovering up” all of the Fox-Marvel characters, and is already planning for them all to go into Phase 4. This includes the X-Men, Deadpool, and Fantastic Four. In what capacity and with what actors was not discussed." If this is really how it went down, there you go. The gears have been put in motion. The mutants & the first family are coming home. The lineup for Phase 4 is now through the roof. Hell, I'm actually excited to watch things I've already seen before. Just because now, they're gonna be done right. You know, like Gambit, or anything Fantastic Four? The developments to come out of this are going to be more than exciting. I'm sure the Marvel Studios "drawing board" has been split in half with what they were planning with what they could now be planning. We've still got awhile before we find out for sure if this is going down. Mid-2019 is about where we're looking for confirmation on finalizing the deal. Fingers crossed. Everyone else excited about this? Put it in the comments, like, & share.

Can Marvel Really Bring Back Together The Whole Roster? Talks With Fox?

I will not be the naysayer this time around. When talks were tossed around last time, I said there's no way Sony will come off there little piece of guaranteed box office returns, Spider-Man. Then the studio started hurting & next thing you know there's this joint deal with Marvel & Sony throwing Spidey into the MCU. Now CNBC reports that 21st Century Fox has been holding talks to sell most of the company to Disney. This won't include Fox sports & media outlets. This scaling down to sports & media gives 21st Century Fox a better way to compete in the current media environment. These talks have taken place over the last few weeks. Off right now, but seem to be in an on again, off again situation. No talk of price or how far the talks actually are, but it looks like a potential deal would include the movie studio, TV production, Star, Sky, & entertainment networks such as FX & National Geographic. That's a pretty awesome package. Why's a Disney deal in the Marvel news discussion spot though? Because I can't help but think of the REAL ramifications of this deal. This puts the whole damn Marvel catalog together at Marvel Studios. This will bring home the X-Men & the Fantastic Four, but even more so the giant who's who of villains that come along with them. That's an exciting notion, that will further destroy the odds of newcomers eventually finding a spot to come into the Marvel Universe. Start watching all the films now, because if this happens this thing is going to start growing like a wildfire. The possibilities are endless, & Marvel Studios will do them right. I can't wait to hear more on these talks. This is big! What do y'all think? Does the thought of Marvel getting their whole playground excite you? Or do you think this will be too much to manage?
