“Call Of The Wild" Official Trailer

Much like Disney, I haven't been paying attention to FOX much. Besides a couple obvious high points like Ford v Ferrari, which I still need to see, it seems like they're just releasing what was left before Disney's purchase. However, after watching this trailer for Call of the Wild a couple times, this has a lot of potential to be another one of those high points. This trailer totally snuck up on me. To the point that it was sent to me by someone else. I’m glad it was though. I’m not sure about the CGI animals, but Harrison Ford looks great. The dog's look seems a bit off, i’m hoping it gets some more polish. Killing of Han Solo has seemed to invigorate Harrison Ford though. This is not the Ford that slept his way through the Crystal Skull. He looks like he really found some energy for this. Official synopsis that came with, “Adapted from the beloved literary classic, THE CALL OF THE WILD vividly brings to the screen the story of Buck, a big-hearted dog whose blissful domestic life is turned upside down when he is suddenly uprooted from his California home and transplanted to the exotic wilds of the Alaskan Yukon during the Gold Rush of the 1890s. As the newest rookie on a mail delivery dog sled team--and later its leader--Buck experiences the adventure of a lifetime, ultimately finding his true place in the world and becoming his own master.” Provided the CGI can come with it, & really pull off this dog, I think we’re in for a real treat with this one. 20 Century Fox's “Underwater” Looks Insanely Intense

There was a movie years ago called Descent. It took a group of women spelunking caverns, an already tense situation, & added these creepy blind creatures. Underwater looks like it's cut from the same cloth. I was already getting creeped out with while deep underwater aspect with the leak. Then there’s also something down there they’ve unleashed. Along with we gotta get out & walk? Yeah, I'm so in! Love the cast! This looks like rip the seat off in front you in the theater intensity. 20th Century Fox may be experiencing some cutbacks soon, but i’m glad this isn't one of them. Disney Stepping In With Big Changes To FOX

I know I've seemed to be away for awhile now, but truthfully there just hasn't been much going on. Which I'm sure has to do with D23 being right around the corner. I’m going to do a show alone to cover all that comes form there. Until then however, this has happened. Variety reports Disney making huge changes at 20th Century Fox. With Kevin Feige inheriting all things hero, & axing the majority of things in development for the studio, refocusing output. CEO Bob Iger also told Wall Street analysts in addition, the company’s streaming platform Disney Plus will get four big brands from Fox, the Macaulay Culkin holiday franchise Home Alone, the historical action romp Night at the Museum, the family comedy Cheaper by the Dozen and the live-action The Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Disney chief financial officer Christine McCarthy revealed Fox film was at an operating loss of $170 million for the quarter. Citing the horrible performance of Dark Phoenix barely breaking even, & marketing costs for upcoming films such as FORD v FERRARI. The only complete FOX film Iger seems to really have faith in. Determined to keep 20th Century Fox it’s own thing, Iger said it would probably take a year or two to have an impact on the films on production. The future slate past this year seems all up in the air though. With James Cameron’s sequels to Avatar, as well as a continuation of the Planet of the Apes to proceed, Iger also said indie label Fox Searchlight will continue on its current trajectory and also make movies for Disney+. Fox's film division will have to pare back its number of releases. I don’t get how this is to big of a surprise. Considering FOX wasn't putting out quality stuff. They were just souring what properties they did own the rights to. I was very surprised when Disney announced as many FOX films as they did. Dark Phoenix should have proved all these films probably need some hard looks at & retooling before deciding on whether they deserve major or minor releases growing forward. The question is will this level of change affect the type of material coming out of FOX altogether. FOX does some weird shit in some of their films, taking major chances with at times edgy material. The House of Mouse is gonna have to jump in running it looks like, as opposed to the gradual pace they had looked like they accepted. Curious to see where 20th Century Fox is in the next 5 years. Delightfully Funny WTF Trailer For “JOJO RABBIT"

When I first heard a about JOJO RABBIT, I was instantly intrigued. I've been all about some Taika Waititi since Thor: Ragnarok, however the only way to talk about this trailer is to lead with the synopsis: “a World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy (Roman Griffin Davis as JoJo) whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in their attic. Aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi), Jojo must confront his blind nationalism.” In theaters October 18th, this trailer is absolutely nuts. This is going to be disturbingly funny as all hell or just plain disturbing. Either way I'm all in. Ragnarok was hilarious, & some really dark material was covered through the funny. Second Official Trailer For "Ad Astra" Released

The second official trailer keeps its vagueness in what exactly is going on in Ad Astra other than Brad Pitt playing astronaut Roy McBride trying to find his father. Who's lost in space with what could be the secret to save the planet. Per the synopsis, “His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.” This trailer builds on the first, extending scenes we saw in the first with some awesome visuals. They've definitely caught my curiosity. From what I'm seeing however, there's no real in-between for this film. It's either gonna be extremely awesome or boring as all hell. First Teaser For “The King's Man" Released

“As a collection of history's worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them. Discover the origins of the very first independent intelligence agency in The King's Man.” That's the synopsis that came along with the first teaser for The King's Man. 20th Century Fox's prequel to The Kingsmen series set for February 14th 2020. Great teaser though. I can’t wait to see this. The first film totally blindsided me when it was released, & I loved it. I also liked the second one, but the original blew me away. This teaser looked very interesting. I'm a big fan of origin stories. Especially organization origin stories. Pair that with how big a fan I am of Ralph Fiennes, & this is an automatic must see. Even if I can’t stop thinking of Voldemort every time I see him. Anyway, this looked awesome to me. Gonna have to plan a refresh on the previous films. What did y'all think? Definitely Wasn't Expecting “Spies In Disguise” Trailer

I’ve been saying that FOX is new on my radar, so a lot of this stuff I haven't even heard of. I don’t know what I was expecting out of this trailer for Spies in Disguise, but it wasn’t this. When it started, I didn’t know what to expect. At one point I started wondering what audience this was going for? Then, it took this crazy turn. This might be a really funny, family fun for everyone type flick. The pair up of Will Smith & Tom Holland seems it could be classic. All in all I was pleasantly surprised by this trailer. To the point of even wondering if this could be a reemergence of Will Smith? He's popping up a lot again all the sudden. Can’t wait to see more of this though, it looks hilarious. Red Band Trailer For Fox Searchlight's "Ready Or Not"

Warning, this is definitely a Red Band trailer, & it lives up to it. That said, Ready or Not seems like it's going to be a pull no punches, thriller that has me pretty intrigued. The synopsis itself is pretty straightforward considering how crazy it really is, "Ready or Not follows a young bride (Samara Weaving) as she joins her new husband’s (Mark O’Brien) rich, eccentric family (Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, Andie MacDowell) in a time-honored tradition that turns into a lethal game with everyone fighting for their survival." It gets crazier in the more fleshed out unfolding in the trailer. The family made its fortune in board games. Leading to the brides tradition of picking a game to play with the family after the wedding. She uses a box that pops up Hide 'n Seek as the game. Then proceeds to hide not knowing the seekers will be heavily armed with intent to kill. The object of the game being survive 'til dawn. With the family believing something bad will happen if the bride manages to do so. I don't know why, but these are some of my favorite horror/thriller type films. Escape Room & even the SAW franchises come to mind. Something about people getting put in these strange situations & fighting their way out with just wit. Official Trailer For "Ad Astra"

Didn't take too much out of this trailer except a strong sense of intrigue. Considering everything they talked about in this, including the search for extraterrestrial life the synopsis seems pretty vague as well: "Astronaut Roy McBride (Brad Pitt) travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos." I've been a huge Brad Pitt fan for what feels like ever. That alone would have me on board. Throw in space & you've totally piqued my interest. I actually liked the fact this trailer stayed bare-bones. In fact, I'm not sure if I want to see or know any more than the little we've got here. I love the mystery when it comes to "realistic" sci-fi. In fact, I stayed away from trailers for Interstellar when it released for just that reason. I'd be happy if we only got a few remixes of this trailer until its September 20th release. Especially if they keep it as wide open as this look was. Official Trailer For "The Art Of Racing In The Rain"

What did I just watch? Talk about taking liberties whole naming a film! This wasn't even close to what I was expecting when I started watching this trailer. Staring Milo Ventimiglia, Amanda Seyfried, & the voice of Kevin Costner, I almost don't even want to talk about it for fear of ruining the surprise I got while watching. What I thought was going to be a racing trailer abruptly turns into a story about a racer's life told through the eyes of a dog voiced by Costner. I don't even know what to think about this one. As if I didn't know it was based on a novel, this is one of the many films I'd love to be in the initial pitch room for. Based on a best seller by Garth Stein,  the official synopsis goes, "Based on the best-selling novel by Garth Stein, THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN is a heartfelt tale narrated by a witty and philosophical dog named Enzo (voiced by Kevin Costner). Through his bond with his owner, Denny Swift (Milo Ventimiglia), an aspiring Formula One race car driver, Enzo has gained tremendous insight into the human condition and understands that the techniques needed on the racetrack can also be used to successfully navigate the journey of life. The film follows Denny and the loves of his life - his wife, Eve (Amanda Seyfried), their young daughter Zoe (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), and ultimately, his true best friend, Enzo." As strange as it seems, it looks like it could be a really cute, heartwarming film. Especially for dog lovers. Which we've proved time & again have a major film turnout. Hopefully we skip the inevitable dog ending we seem to always get. Chances have proved to be slim on that hope though. Anyway, what did y'all think of this strangely named story? Cast And Director Discuss TOLKIEN

This will most likely be the first film from Disney's purchase of FOX I will review. Sounds like a perfect date flick to check out. While I really like Lord of the Rings, I've never really loved it as much as some. However, loosely related, I was a giant fan of the animated Hobbit as a child. This story here has really grabbed my attention though. It's official synopsis reads, "TOLKIEN explores the formative years of the renowned author’s life as he finds friendship, courage and inspiration among a fellow group of writers and artists at school. Their brotherhood strengthens as they grow up and weather love and loss together, including Tolkien’s tumultuous courtship of his beloved Edith Bratt, until the outbreak of the First World War which threatens to tear their fellowship apart. All of these experiences would later inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-earth novels." If I'm getting the trailers correctly it looks as if the real life story will be built upon by looks at how it correlates to Tolkien's writings. Sounds very interesting, if it doesn't wind up being a complete snooze fest. It helps I'm also a fan Nicholas Hoult, who's playing the lead. Might be a day late on the first thoughts review for this one, but it will be coming. Got a little more excited hearing the passion on the voices of the director & cast here, but only time will tell. We'll know when it releases on May 10th.

New Trailer Shows How Jean Becomes "Dark Phoenix"

Ok, so maybe it just shows how she becomes the Phoenix, then eludes to some of the manipulations to have her turn to Dark Phoenix, but you can't have one without the other. Not sure who this is pulling the strings to get her to that place, but this keeps looking better & better. Once again, I know all throughout production they went on & on about how many problems this thing had. And the first trailers didn't really do anything for me. These 2 trailers that have been cut since Disney took over though? They either show the power of a well cut trailer, or this is going to be an awesome send off for the 20 years we've spent with Fox's X-Men. I went from not so worried to actual excitement for this one. There's a chance they could be going out with a bang. Totally dug this trailer. Not only the visuals of the Phoenix, but the mindset behind the changes in her personality as well. This is everything we wanted in X-Men 3. What'd y'all think though? Best Looking Footage From "Dark Phoenix" So Far

Another big piece of Disney's FOX rollout at CinemaCon was this new look at Dark Phoenix . At least, from descriptions I'm pretty sure this is what they saw. And I must agree, this is probably the first trailer I've seen that's gave me some hope for this one. I just couldn't get the haven't we done that before feeling out of my head through the others. With this one however, it at least looks like they're attempting to do it right. It still doesn't erase the nightmare stories I've heard throughout the development of it, but like I said, it does leave room for hope. They did mention that this will close off FOX's X-Men saga, & be the final entry. So, fingers crossed, i think we all know where they're popping up next. A blessing & a curse considering even through its ups & downs, there has been some shining things throughout. Namely, Jackman's retired Wolverine, both Mckellen & Fastbender's Magneto, & Stewart & even McAvoy's Professor X to name a few. Anyway, fingers crossed this has had enough tweaks through the turmoil to come out as good as this trailer, & end a very long saga on a good note. What'd y'all think though? Does this trailer redeem all the bad press, or will you sit this one out for their inevitable addition to the MCU?

20th Century Fox's "Stuber" Looks Hilarious

FOX was a big part of Disney's presentation at CinemaCon. Which brought up some films I didn't have on my radar at all. One of these was Stuber . They talked it up to the point I was curious, but still had no idea what to expect other than a comedy with Dave Bautista. Especially from that name. A name which now makes perfect since after seeing this trailer. Also starring Kumail Nanjiani, who we talked about last week as in talks for Marvel's The Eternals . Where he plays an Uber driver, hence the name Stuber , that gets his car commandeered by a cop (Bautista) on the hunt for a murderer. From what it looks like in this trailer, pure hilarity ensues. Provided they didn't show us every funny moment in the trailer, this has the potential to be great. It also looks like the first role for Bautista, that could push his acting career to big new places. Don't know if many people will get past this name though. Like I said, after watching this trailer it makes since, but will that hold for name recognition at the box-office? Only time will tell, but this is definitely a very funny trailer nonetheless.
